First time poster, long time lurker.

bought a Boss GE7 off Reverb last week with the plan to get cheapest one to then send to Analogman to have modded.

The picture was just front, but when I got it, it won for dirtiest pedal I ever got from Reverb. 45 min later from cleaning, I decided to check the serial - Made in Japan Jan 1982.

was around before the Berlin Wall was taken down and John Belluci was still alive. Michael Jacksons Thriller was released.

This pedal is older than my wife!

Should I be excited or return it??

Why return it? Doesn't it work? Isn't it clean now? My wah is older than me, is in worse shape, but sounds great, so it's not going anywhere.

I would keep and I probably wouldn't have it modded. Some people find the Made In Japan Boss pedals to be desirable.

I use a Carter Administration model.
You’ve got a Reagan. It’s bulletproof.

some of the old "vintage" Boss pedals demands higher price today as some of them sounds different/better than its modern gen predecessors.

Keep it, don’t mod it. Put it in your “oldest pedal” collection. Do record with it, but never take it to a show.

(mini rant)

Side note, I never understand why people don’t clean pedals before they sell them. It’s just gross some of the things people sell with crud and pet hair all over them.

Oh, and when they don’t show the bottom they are either lazy or hiding something.
