I've been on the hunt, but the more I play the more I'm getting lost. There are so many options. I like all sorts of flavors. Here are the highlights:
Egnater Rebel 30 - so many features, great all around tones.
Vox AC Hand Wired - amazing tone, but I have a love affair with reverb.
Line 6 DT25 - Super curious, really liked the DT50.
    Used Bogner Metropolis
Swart Atomic Jr - More than 1k, but nuff said.

    What else am I missing?

The only Boogie I care for is the Electra Dyne. I'm more of Blues, Southern Rock, Classic Rock guy. Knopfler, Tom Petty, Black Crowes... A little Mayer and Bonamassa.

Some Carr's might fit your needs under a grand.... The newer PRS amps might be found used in your budget too.

I like mayer, and bonamassa, and I LOVE Knopfler (no homo)

I play a single rectumfrier, love the recto series. I feels you though, brosefina.

seriously though, knopfler is my boy.

Had a Rectoverb for a year, it stopped wow'n me pretty quick. Weak verb and cleans.

I'm not going to argue with you there (my single is the ROV).

I play metal mostly, but my favorite guitarists all play blues or classic rock. I wish I played more bluesy stuff, though you can hear the blues influence in my leads I guess.

Surprisingly i would give the nod to the line 6 amps. I was very impressed with my time on the DT 25, sounded very good to me, plus versatile.

Rebel 30s are great sounding, very versatile amps. That would be my first choice unless you can get an Egnater Renegade at your price.

I am interested in trying out their stuff they did with Miguel Bogner. It's like a tube/modeling hybrid

Mesa Lonestar is what you need

Amazing cleans and the best reverb reverb I've ever heard in an amp!

Like half a great amp. Great cleans, but the OD doesn't match the greatness. I just never vibed with it.

*only played a couple times at music stores* but enough to intrigue me: Maz18 w/ verb. Might be a bit over $1k used but I'd think it might be worth considering.

Search and you can find a Dr. Z Maz 18 for that. Budda 18 or 30 are great options. Lots of Tweed Deluxe and Fender options.

As you say, lots of choices. If the Z's not too bright for you, it's hard to beat for $1K IMO.

I've played thru a Maz 18 pretty extensively, and I find it a bit too stiff for my tastes. The EZG50 is amazing, but not in the budget.

Solid amp, but I've done Fender many times over. SF Twin Reverb, Super Champ XD, Custom Vibrolux Reverb, Pro Series Twin. All great amps, but not what I'm looking for.
