I just finished building my Ceriatone 18-watt TMB amp. Which cab configuration do you guys suggest? The back will have a flex-back so it can be closed, partial or open. I play Classic rock, blues and country and rarely ever play squeaky clean. What speaker (s) do you recommend?

18watt and G12H30 is a match made in tone heaven.

    Scumback H75 1x12.
Maybe go large dustcap version LHDC to tame the highs a touch.
Sometimes them 18 watters can get shrill.

    Interesting you say that.
I got the 65w version to be safe. I was playing through my Alessandro Muzzle with a watt meter and noticed it could get close to 30w when maxed out and especially if I really pounded on the strings. I wasn't taking any chances after my Tone Tubby developed voice coil rub.
They really are a nice match.

Edit: I just realized the LHDC isn't just the 65w or 100w H75.

    2x12" greenbacks are highly recommended.

Yup. Just like a 50 watt marshall can hit 100 watts...it do happen.

I see no one is a fan of 2x10's? What about the Weber silver Bell or EMI Wizard?

Yeah it's the large dustcap. but you're right as well.
I usually try to go double the wattage of the amp in a 1x12. Just in case. I most often use a 2x12 though, even with my 18 watter (not marshall style though).

A SA12LHDC-8HP would be a good choice. Or the M version if you like that.
If you prefer celestion, I'd think a Classic Lead 80 would be nice. Maybe a V30 if you dig those.

    Eagle1 - if you're talking to me - I don't have any pix of the cabinet - that's what I'm asking about.

    Gut shots!
    Did you get the kit?
Do you like it more than the HW Marshall?

Doh!!!! OK - I'll put them up tonight. It was the kit - it's as good as it can get as far as I'm concerned. Never played the HW one. I just ordered the GabKit 1x12 cab. Still deciding on the speaker though.

I ran mine through an Avatar 2x12 with an Eminence Swap Thang and..oh, I can't remember what the other one was, but it was another of the newer Eminence speakers. It was huge.

It doesn't get any better than an 18 watter pushing 2x12 Celestion blues.

Thanks for the kudos. It was fun. It's my second build - the first being a VibroChamp. This one definitely came out neater!! lol I ordered a 1x12 cab from GabKits yesterday in Green, and a Weber SilverBell 30 watt pre-Rola. I have a 15 watt one in my Winfield and it's the best speaker I've ever used. I'd like to see your build (eagel1) when you're done.
