    Hey good people-

My Dr. Z-Best 2-12" is lonely and needs a companion...

I haven't been in the market for a 2-12" closed back/ported cabs for quite sometime. I do remember liking the THD 2-12 quite a bit, but it was over 5 years ago when I played one. I dig my Z a lot, but have been wondering if another cab might complement it. But I definitely favor a big sounding cab.

    Ideas? Other brands?

Check out Port City. I've got a 2X10 (same size as the std 2X12) - really, really great sounding cab.

Alf Hermida has a killer 2x12 ported in his new cabinet line.

I have a 1x12 OS myself and it is really a great cab. Huge sound, great tight low end....

I have not tried the 2x12, but if it is anything like mine, it has to be great...

+1 on the Port City. Or, get a second Z-Best. Both are fantastic cabs.

Galo Rivera and Scott Lerner have both posted sound clips of Alf's 1x12 ported cab in this thread.

I tried both the ported and open back configurations of the 1x12, 2x12 and 2x10 cabs last week. They all sounded great, but Alf has a pair of 4x10 cabs coming out soon that, being partial to 10" speakers, I'm real anxious to hear.

What types of Heads do you run?
If you uses Dr.Z Heads, why not another Z-Best or a Z 2x12 Open-Back with Celestion Golds?

I recently had the pleasure of jamming thru a Splawn oversize 212 ported close-back and it sounded HUGE; worth considering imho!!
