Original thread here: http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=1008432 The build is complete. Total cost of parts was $450. Both Eddie's original Frankenstrat as well as his 5150 Kramer influenced the direction I went with in terms of aesthetics. I wasn't going for an authentic recreation, since I wanted to be about function rather than form; for example, I wanted a functional single coil in the neck and a three-way blade switch mounted into the pickguard. I did all the assembly work myself besides drilling the mounting holes into the neck, which I had a tech do for me (tuner holes, decal, and headstock finish were done by previous owner). I'm not necessarily a huge EVH fan, but I've always loved the color scheme (red, black, and white are my favorite colors) and the fact that the originals were very personal and simply a labor of love, with complete disregard for conventional aesthetics and functionality.
