2004 LTD EC1000 vs 90s Crafted in Japan Fender Strat

So this dude is offering me a 1997 "Crafted in Japan" Fender strat for my LTD EC1000 sunburst guitar with Seymour Duncans (JB/59s)

I tried out the Strat and it sounds gorgeous and feels like a freakin American strat! Should I go for it? What would you all do? I already have a les paul to take the place of the EC1000 incase I go through with it.

Do you know the model? Fender Japan was turning out a number of models during the 90s and many of them were high quality.

Used EC1000s typically fetch about $500

MIJ Fenders are on the rise. Financially it's a great trade.

But more importantly, they're excellent player guitars. They're incredible for the $$.

Looks like a reissue ('62RI?). I have one same year in candy apple red and they are fantastic guitars!

My #1 is a CIJ 54 reissue - it is my #1

and my booteek Grosh Tele is my #1a

I have tried many times to "upgrade" my strat out of pure greed or pure gas - just to have two booteeks
but every strat I try - always pales in comparison to the CIJ (I did upgrade the electronics/harness & installed some Grosh Fat 60's though)

I would do that trade in a heartbeat.
