Excellent! Hope its a good release. Ladies and Gentlemen is still one of my favorite disks to spin.

    Thanks for the heads up.

Mogwai plays here five days after Spiritualized. And Brian Jonestown Massacre plays five days before.

Saw 'em at 9:30 shortly after he lost the band to Lupine Howl, I guess; wasn't bad but seemed stiff. :( -E

I'll probably get some kind of flack for this, but Spiritualized are my favorite blues band. Actually, they throw in a lot of gospel and psych stuff too, so they might be my favorite for those genres as well.

The only time I saw them was on their last American tour a few years back, and I was giddy for weeks afterwards. Just a great set. I was hoping that their signing to Fat Possum would result in a show a little closer to me.

    ^^^^

When they're on live, they're ON. When I saw them in 2001, it was the leg of the Let it Come Down tour where they had a full orchestra with them. They played a club called Spectrum where the balcony was converted into an orchestra pit. So the band was on stage, and the the orchestra was about 30 ft above the audience all the way in the back of the room. The sound was just incredible that night.

I looked up the Spectrum, and naturally it was torn down in 2007, and now looks like this:

I saw them was when they were out for Ladies and Gentlemen at the El Rey in Los Angeles - they were great that night. Also fantastic when I saw them at the Whiskey for Pure Phase. But I saw them a few times where it just wasn't happening, but when they are on, they are really great !! Too bad they won't make it out here. Pure Phase is still my one of my favorites.

Looks like DC will get Spiritualized and Mastodon on the same week.
