Hi anyone have any experience with the new 2019 SG specials with the 2 P90s? Any word when these will be at dealers?

They’ve recently caught my eye but I have not found much feedback around the web yet.

    Thanks

Seeing the picture makes my head spin -- but $1,500 ... I don't think so.

On paper it looks like a great guitar, very tempting! I've been looking for reviews and demos as well but I haven't found any yet...

Well, as a Firebird the color rocks but P90s are not my thing.

Love P-90’s. Not sure if price is good or high. Both colors look really nice. SG are my first choice brcause they are nice and light.

Where can you buy an American made guitar with full gloss finish for under $1500?

From Gibson -- 2011 they put out an SG junior for $799 Gloss [I guess you mean nitro] finish ... perfect.. Last year they put out an SG Junior [virtually the same model except for the funky Gibson logo] for $1,499 ...

Just sayin' ... I love the SG Pelham, I don't love the price.

The 2011 SG junior had a baked maple fretboard though and no hardshell case like the 2018 one. I happen to like the baked maple though but I'm not sure if they priced the 2011 version lower because of this.

That was almost 8 years ago too. I’d expect prices to go up in 8 years. Maybe not as much as they have, but still.

I’m not sure what people expect. Even if it was listed at $1000 some would still say it is too much for what it is. If it’s too expensive, don’t buy it.
It’s like comparing an exotic car to a regular car and saying that the exotic is too expensive. To some, yes, to others, not.

Yes this too and also Gibson USA has only made SG juniors twice in the last 10 years so it commands a higher price. Look at some other brands and what you get for $1500- ibanez will sell you an Indonesian made premium guitar for that price- not even made in Japan. IMO Gibson USA is one of the best values out there considering it is USA made and has higher resale values, etc.

I truly believe that's a fair price. And with random sales, you'll be able to knock off a hundred or two if you're lucky.

However, I need to buy a bed and redo my floors, so I'll pass ;)

I think these should cost about $200 less than a Standard. New Standards are $1,500 at the moment. This is also another example of where a new USA is almost as much as a used / private sale Custom Shop equivalent if you factor in taxes.

There is another thread about these that I believe Tim Plains started.
The guitars don't ship until January, so no one can vouch for them yet. Gibson posted a photograph of the prototypes on instagram a few weeks ago. They are a limited run that has already sold out from a few retailers, so you'll have to act quick if you see them for sale.

Personally, I like the sparkling burgundy color, but I can't justify another SG right now.

Mine shows up tomorrow, from CME. They had two of the Pelhams, and two of the red ones. The last I checked, they had one red left. Got a very nice price as well. I’ll post a photo or two when I get a chance.

How was it? Is the slim taper neck too 'thin' ?

It sounds like some dealers are getting love from Gibby earlier; Sweetwater can't confirm for me when they'll get it (which means they can't charge a CC) so no discounts yet :(

Got mine a few days ago. A Pelham blue SG with proper horn bevel cuts and P90s has always been a dream guitar for me so i pulled the trigger immediately though CME. i wonder how limited it is? sounds glorious through my vox and fender princeton. i think $1500 (even though CME gave me a slight discount) is totally fair for a full gloss, bound neck and fancy hardshell gibson.
