Army is tough every single week. But 2 OT at the Big House?
Um, 100 out of 100 coaches go for 2 there. You make its a 14 pt game 100% of the time, if you can.
You don’t watch much football, do you?
Nah, I’ve just had season tickets for the last 24 years.
Props to Army for sure.
Is this what's going on here?
Fair is fair. This one’s been around for years... except it’s even funnier when it’s Oklahoma!
They're all funny. Poor kids...
That was my inner child on Saturday night.
well i think it is safe to say that MSU had the worst uniforms in sports on sat. whoever designed those should be tarred and feathered.
Makes the players easier to see in the rain?
Some cool things from the Texas/LSU game:
Texas band honors Jimi Hendrix (though they got the headstock wrong!)
Texas band honors The Who
Kurt and Mrs. L having a great time (I kept my Dad's LSU hat on until halftime. Should've taken it off after the first quarter!)
People underestimate how bare the cupboard was when Pruitt took over from Butch. There are a lot of guys there who don't belong on an SEC roster.
Pruitt is playing for the future and his main concern is developing the young players and keeping the recruiting momentum going. I think that drives some of the on-field decisions too, like going for the 4 and 1 instead of the field goal late in the game. His goal is not to beat BYU in game 2 of his second season. His goal is to build the program back from the hole it is in. He's sending that message by giving young players a lot of playing time and trying to be as aggressive as the current personnel can be.
Guarantano is a placeholder QB. He can't go through progressions, probably because he's been running for his life since he was given the starting job. But 5-star stud Harrison Bailey is sitting at home watching the game and imagining taking the starting job next year and becoming a superstar in a system that will showcase his talent.
We have a very unrealistic fan base. They overestimate how attractive the job is while ignoring the reality that the better available coaches aren't interested in coming to Knoxville.
I think Pruitt is the long-term guy, and he's thinking long-term. It's painful to watch for now, for damn sure.
Liked the post, hate Tennessee.
5. LSU won.
In all seriousness, that's really cool that you honored your dad. Props.
Thanks! I grew up cheering for LSU. I still have Dad's hat and his Tiger Country LP, and his diploma hangs on the wall of the mancave next to mine. He was a huge LSU fan and I was missing him last weekend, for sure. When he was stationed in Germany (early 70s), by some freak of nature he could pick up Tiger games on his car radio - so we'd sit in his little BMW at weird hours to listen. His favorite games were against Ole Miss and Bama, but he would've loved Saturday night. (Along with me and Mrs. L, my sister, her husband and one of my nieces are all UT alums.)
There is literally only one circumstance in which I would cheer against LSU, and that's playing Texas. LSU played tough but damn it, we could've won that game. I think the Tigers almost made Georgia's mistake of thinking they are automatically the tougher team. (The SEC has a big head. The Aggies are now totally infected with that nonsense!!! It's even surpassed much of their traditional nonsense - a considerable achievement!)
I should've taken the hat off after the first quarter instead of waiting for halftime! The semi-drunk LSU kids sitting in front of us were lots of fun, though. Started giving me grief the second they found their seats. We all had a good time.
Start planning your comebacks now because I'll be ready to talk some smack when the Horns go to Baton Rouge next fall!!!
...I would probably not talk too much smack in Baton Rouge. They’re fun folks but they smack back.
My Ducks are going to be ok this year and only get better--Tough loss to Auburn(my fav SEC team) taught us a lesson we wont forget-and a very close game. Go Auburn-Go Ducks!!
