22uf Cap Wired to Jack

    This is something I've never seen. It looks like someone has wired a 0022uf cap to the output jack of a 73 Telecaster Thinline and left the original cap at the tone pot. Any idea what this is for? i'm assuming it's rolling off some highs or mids?

    I replaced the volume pot with a 500k and it still had no taper. I removed the mystery cap and the guitar came alive. The tone knob does very little now even on 0, but all of the strange upper midrange sound I was fighting are gone and the pickups now sound like something between a les paul and a telecaster.

    Super glad I removed that cap....Now I have to decide if I want to waste a set of strings and put the original 1meg volume pot back in...
