What's a good compliment to the Blue in a open back cab?? Amp is a Bad Cat Tone Cat and possibly in the near future a Alessandro English.

    Thanks

    How about a Gold?

Blue and Gold in the same cab. I think Brad Paisley does that, IIRC.

A Gold, but only if it is broken in.

Yup I use a blue and a G12H in a 2x12 - sounds great. I didn't know others did that too! I use it with a Bad Cat amp and it's perfect.

Scumnico might be cool, but you also get a great blend of tone
    with a ceramic and AlNiCo.

Listen closely to the Blue, what's missing?

Something to fill out the bottom-mids would be my guess.

The blue tends to get a bit fizzy on higher gain settings. It's amazing clean though.

Would you prefer better clean retention, to crunch when over driven
or prefer something that breaks earlier.

I'm thinking Weber Thames vs. Tone Tubby vs Scumbacks,
something that will compliment and fill out your sound.

The 12" Scumnico used in the Gries 5 soundclip seems to have a nice tight
bottom, but not sure if two different AlNiCo's is the answer or not.

You said the Blue gets a bit ratty when overdriven, so something with tight bottom-mids still seems to be what would compliment the Blue.

i've got a ceramic silver bell on the way, and i'm on the hunt for an alnico blue for my ac30. To me ceramic silver + alnico blue is a good combo to offset strengths/weaknesses.

I dropped 60s Vox Silver in a resonant, solid wood, semi-open backed cab with a Blue RI that I had broken in well over years. Very lively and bouncy sound, wider frequency response than Blue alone and more interesting top and upper mids than silver alone. Very very good cleans to mid grind but roll over when hit with too much fuzz or distortion. Also get compressed when driven hard, but that is cool sometimes.

Depends on what you like. For most days, I prefer something more neutral and firmer with bigger amp. Small amp sounds good with these, though.

I used a Blue Alnico + Vintage 30 with my Divided by 13 2x12. Sounded great with a G12H30 as well, but I liked it with the V30 more. Worth noting that one of the speakers Matchless used to use in their combos (maybe they still do?) is the V30.

Cannbis Rex. Great speaker to mix with an alnico.

I like the Blue + Greenback combo in my Gabriel cab.
