I have a great Bluesbreaker convertible cab. The speakers are 100W Scumback M75 and 100W Scumnico. They sound really good but they are 100W peak (not RMS) and I am scared of blowing them... The Scumnico already suffered a bit so... I am probably going to put them in another cab so I am looking for a more powerful option while keeping the British vibe. Any suggestions? Thanks

You might try swapping the Scumnico for an Eminence Tonker (150w Fane-ish ceramic). The M75 should be fine.

I would go Greenie of some sort. Scumback M75's are raw and real. ASW Crossroads are very well balanced and a tad smoother. Celestion Cremeback M's are more polite than both. That was my experience with those sets in my 1936 cab and '75 Superbass.

Akrw, Are you sure the 100 watt scumbacks are not RMS? I thought they were.

I would not worry too much, your 200w cab should be able to handle a 100w amp...

I really love the Celestion Creambacks in my 2x12" in my ancient sh!tty 1936 cab (modified with a gap in the back). Preferred it to 'boutique' counterparts in 'boutique' cabs. 130 watts total, so you should be good.

Am I the only one confused here? So you have 2 x 100w speakers in a 2x12....that surely makes a 200w cab which can more than handle a 100w Super Bass. Even if it was a 100w cab I'd be curious to know where on god's earth you'd be running a Super Bass at full tilt for it to even be a risk!

No you're not confused. The cab should have no issues with the amp at all.

Those ARE 100 watt speakers. You'll be fine.

Yup. A 200-watt cab can handle a 100-watt amp with absolutely no trouble. You won't come near blowing it unless, of course, there is some kind of malfunction.

I have blown a 100 watt Fane alnico with a 50 watt JMP from '72. I was running nothing more than a drive pedal in front. It CAN happen.

'Tis true that amp clipping can and does blow speakers as often as overpowering them, if not more so. Often this occurs with using an underpowered amp that's maxed out.

That's a BEAST of an amp, 4x12"should be the smallest speaker complement.

If limited by life circumstances to just two 12", I'd use the heaviest I can find; those 150W Eminences being the minimum.
    Personally I've paired raw 100W Marshall heads (no MV) to 2 x EVM12L .
Bone crushing pants flapping sound, and guarantee of long life.

A big point to consider is that such amps sound so GOOD overdriven that unconsciously, want it or not, you'll get to that sound level after a few songs.

I use a 2x12 loaded with Scumback M75-100w with my 1968 Super Bass. Sounds awsome. I do however use a Alex attenuator, but thats to protect my ears - not the speakers!

Sounds huge! I love the grunt and snarl of the superbass! Where do you have the volume, around 6-7?

Love it! Germino Monterey owner here so I'm with ya on that super bass stuff! They are amazing overdriven with pedals too as you so aptly have shown in this video! I like it best into the Germino 4x12 with the reissue G12Ms which I just threw in there recently for grins after trying the Scumback PVCs and M75-65s (which were stock). They all sound amazing...different flavors on a theme. But, I use a Fryette Power Station to protect the ears as well! They also protect the speakers...especially with the PVC-20s in there.

More like 8-9 I think! Here`s another video were we switch between a Marshall 1960AX loaded with chinese greenbacks and my 2x12 M75 Scumback cab. The difference is huge! Being in the room the Scumbacks sound much warmer, fatter, and defined than the chinese IMO.
