Looking for help from anyone who has a 4-way tele switch installed. My '52 RI seems more noisy than before. I used a ready made harness form Rothstein Guitars, I think its fine, the brige plate is grounded (.5 ohms relative to the control plate). I followed the supplied official Fender wiring. All the noise vanishes as long as I am touching any metallic part. The cavities are not shielded, so no changes there.

There is an alternative wiring method that can be found on TGP. Has anyone tried both and is there a clear winner?

Also, anyone doing 4 way tele with Kinmans and if so how does it sound? Thanks,

    gb

Did you create a seperate ground wire for the neck pickup's cover, or is the cover still grounded by means of a little jumper wire from the cover tab to the coil ground lead? If you did not install a seperate ground wire for the cover, it could lead to all sorts of noise.

Here's a modified wiring diagram that quiets things down:

    Hi Tonebender & Jim Collins,

I'll try this alternate wiring, Rothstein feels it will help 1 pup but is no different on the other. I did originally put a new ground wire coming from the neck pup cover.

    Question on your diagram:

The pair of poles (top and bottom) furthest to the right on the switch are clearly connected by red. Is the pair immediately to their left connected- the red is kinda vague?

Tonebender, where did you get that diagram?

I see why ya'll think the second from right poles are jumped but my guess is no, the hole is open and the wire doesn't break there. But the red right there is throwing a curve ball.
