I'd like to use a 4x12 with my Deluxe Reverb (not using internal speaker). I miss the push of a 4x12.

I understand that i'd need to have a 4x12 wired for 8 ohms.

What would be the ideal speakers to use? Should I use lower power speakers, or would vintage 30s be fine?

Vintage 30s should be fine if that's what you have. Other suggestions would probably be based on sound as opposed to the ability to drive them.

When I had a Deluxe reverb, I had a Weber 12f250. If I were looking at a 4x12, thats where I would have started. I really like that speaker with that amp. Had nice punch and clarity without sounding shrill.

As a Phish fan, I'd go with V30's or Blues.

I run my DR through a Marshall cab loaded with a mix of Eminence Greenback-ish speakers and Celestion G12T-75's. Sounds huge.
