    Or something ;)

Got some new pickups that really had a Mayeresque sounding neckpup so here we goo, quick noodle-clip, nothing organised. A few bars of Mayer at the end.

I'm on the clean channel with a Timmy set with gain at 0 and volume at max. Neunaber wet in the loop.
Tad of post-reverb for stereo spread.

Sennheiser e906 micing the EVH 2x12" cab.

yeah your clip really showcased a great clean tone from these!
Now all the nay sayers can finally hear for themselves the 5153's will do more than hard rock or metal

Yeah definitely. Three years after I bought it now, and it's still surprising me with what I can get out of it. :aok

I just got mine and am having a little bit of trouble getting a good AC/DC type crunch from the blue channel?
it does not seem as smooth/articulate as the crunch i heard here from the H&K tubemeister 18
Go to 1:25 in the vid to hear what i mean

I play at a real low volume though so maybe the 5153 wont do a smooth crunch at low volumes?

It loses some low end and punch at low volumes, hard to get past that with a 50watt. And while it does a lot, getting that very Marshally AC/DC crunch may not be something it can nail.
But the clean channel is extremely responsive to pedals, so I'd say you could nail it with the right one. :)

yeah a pedal may be the answer. also wanted to ask can these be ran with only one 6l6 to bring them down to 25 watts?
    is it safe?
I know some guys pull tubes on their marshalls with no prob

I thought this was a joke at first haha. That amp can really nail a fat clean sound, though. Really nice playing, man.

Hehe, yeah you don't normally associate 5150 with clean tones. :)

    And thanks!

You're welcome. It is essentially a Fender amp, so should we really be surprised? I'm really glad high gain amps are finally getting decent clean channels these days.
