Just snagged this esquire relic from J purcell... This was listed in the emporium maybe 6 months ago. I wanted to snag it then but I was too late! I told the buyer to contact me if he ever wanted to sell it and he did! (Thanks John). check out the specs... It hasn't arrived yet but I believe Woodshed put it together and it was modeled after Rich Robinson's 55 Esquire.

What does the pickup selector switch do on an Esquire?

    Wow
I wonder if Rich is hurting for cash?
Looks like Maverick has/had a ton of his guitars on consignment or for sale outright.

    From the OP

" I believe Woodshed put it together and it was modeled after Rich Robinson's 55 Esquire. "

    Modeled, not, THE guitar.

I'd be interested to see what hes selling from his arsenal.

If bands make money off of touring, that didnt get any of my business in the last year. After all of the lineup changes, I got fed up with seeing faces play songs I didnt want them to see them play, hahaha.

Pos1 - Volume only (is a little brighter and more direct with the tone knob dropped out of the circuit)

Pos2 - Volume + Tone knob (or dial in a setting and turn it on and off with switch)

Pos3 - Volume + pre configured "rhythm sound" using combination of resistors and a capacitor.

Check the May 2007 (I think) issue of Vintage Guitar
May of the guitars for sale at Maverick, including the '55 Esquire and the ES-335 in the link above are pictured in there as some of Rich's touring guitars.
On a side note the article mentioned that he mostly uses 2 Teles and a Les Paul live.

I was just curious if Chris was in bad financial shape. I have a fascination with rock stars that blow money on pricey vintage gear. I even started a thread awhile back about one of the guys from Buckcherry and how he affords all that stuff.

Yup I noticed that too. I've seen him with the Gretch and Matchless tweed and I've seen Chris actually use that sunburst ES335...

Can't blame him for selling that Esquire for 55... That's good coin!

Having seen the Black Crowes four times in the last year (most recently on Friday night), I can assure you that Rich definitely uses a lot more than 2 Teles and an LP. I saw him use at least two different Zeamaitises, one Gretsch White Falcon, his standard ES 335, two Teles, a Les Paul, a Strat, and others I'm sure I'm forgetting... all in an 80 minute show. At least eight different guitars for about a 12-14 song show.

Chris uses a 335 and a Santa Cruz dreadnaught.

Seeing as how their most recent album hit No. 5 on the Billboard top 200, I'm sure they're doing fine financially.

And I'm sure they're still pulling royalties from songs from their debut album.
Rich ain't hurtin' for cash. He's just another gear head like us!

Snapped some pics last night while the light was getting low. Easily one of the best relic jobs I've seen. Hat's off to the original builder. This one is easily on par with any GVCG tele's I've seen!

6.7lbs, looks awesome and after some work sounds and plays great!

    More pics here!
