Q: What was the bubble like? I figured that the whole through-the-head conduction thing was more targeted towards those experiencing partial deafness, I didn't realize it had applications for regular IEM users.

A: Right now its only using a dual driver setup (nothing fancy, even) and you're right it really does use the pressure to make the whole head work as one unit, rather than left ear/right ear. Making the spacial awareness unworldly. The way Stephen had described it in theory is like closing your eyes and plugging your ears, then having somebody walk around you talking. The vibration is still gonna get to your ear drums, just traveling through the other chambers in your head, not just the traditional through ear canal to your ear drum and you're going to have a sense of where it was coming from location wise.

The bubble pulses with the input, working like an ear drum itself, so if your original ear drum is shot for some reason, the bubble basically replicates what the ear drum would be doing. That's at least the jist of the theory I really absorbed, could be a bit off.

The effect though...absolutely insane spacial effects and sound staging. The way I imagine it, is letting a typical listener tap into the heightened sense of hearing that blind people have developed, how they "see" the world. Making the effect, almost 3 dimensional. That was how it seemed to me at least.

I was crying right with them! Must be an amazing thing ... fixing something that they thought would never work again.

Wow - that was very moving and intense. This guy is really making a difference in peoples lives.

And you gotta love an audiologist that is so passionate about something as heavy as AC/DC.

    Thanks for sharing OP!

I do think the innovator (Stephen Ambrose) & the Company really care, and are making some awesome strides (or that's at least how it seems). The people seem to be able to "hear" again through using the device to enable their actual head to help transmit the sound to the cochlea, I think ... hope it can offer, in time, a way for many people to gain back what they have lost ... >>> !!!
