Looks pretty amazing. The body looks like it was made that color originally.

The stoptail with the t-o-m sounds the best to me which was original on some models.
This one originaly had a trem./tailpiece with a compensated bridge. Someone else already started the process of converting it to a stoptail which is what I would have done anyway.

Is that relic-ing on the body?

Beautiful color, and I like that wedge-O-black - that really makes it.

But I must ask one question: if it is indeed relic-ed, why?

I like the relic job since it's not completely "over the top"...besides, I'm partial to old SG Specials, too...with the TOM & stop bar upgrade so you can actually play them in tune.

Have to agree - but then again, I live in Pelham NY so it is kind of expected of me!

Seriously - great restoration - hope it plays killer.

    Great looking guitar!

I always thought the small pickguard was to hide a pickup wire route though. At least to me that would've made sense. Guess it's just cosmetic.

havent i seen you bashing or making smart ass comments on other peoples relics before?

if you actually stopped and thought before you posted, maybe you'd realize that this SG special happens to be OLD, and if it were taken care of all its life, it would probably look just like that....checking and all. i think he wanted it to look proper, and not like an old guitar w/ an obviously fresh paint job.
