Are there any SG experts that could provide any info on '65 SG's?
Some guy posted a '65 SG Standard for sale on Craigslist and the photo shows dot inlays.
I thought the standards came with trapezoid inlays.
He says the guitar is all original and he bought it from the original owner that had it on consignment many years ago.
Also the s/n is 324752, which seems to be consistent with a '65.
Any idea what price range these sell for?

    Thanks

yes it should have trapazoids but that one i guess was a special that somebody routed out for humbuckers.

Hilarious, I didn't realize you were from victoria as well. I thought the exact same thing when I seen the ad earlier and actually emailed the guy about it. Looks like a special that has been routed out to me, if you look at the plastic overlay between the neck pup and the neck it is larger than on a standard sg, and exactly like the special. Look at how tight the pups are jammed in there.

Yep, that's a routed Special.. Probably still a very cool guitar, but the price should be adjusted accordingly.

He has it open to offers until next month and he's going to take the best one it says. That is a fair way to go i guess. I can't imagine it going to for much more than $1500 myself, that is if everything else checks out in good order.

    Hey fellow Victorian,
I would have definately checked this guitar if it it had the original P90's in it.
I've got one of the GOTW '67 SG Special reissues that I got from Long & McQuade's. I gigged with it last night at a Hampton baseball dance and it just cooked.

Nice, I just traded in a '61 standard RI to L&M on a Fender Thinline tele. I loved the SG for a lot of reasons, but it was a bit to bright for me.

Did you check out this guys 74 special? It even has the nice inlays and is all original, way better guitar, bnut the price is maybe steep for its year. http://www.usedvictoria.com/classified-ad/5817119&category=strings-guitar
