Just curious, were there any fender amps made in '67 that had silverface cosmetics? A Guy I know claims his super is a 67, even though it has the 68 cosmetics. And since his biggest evidence is the 1967 transformers, its a little suspect since we all know fender sometime had a year-long storage for trannies.

I'm not sure if they started shipping silverface in '67 or not. As you pointed out, tranny dates are not a good indicator since they can have '67 trannies left in the bin when building the '68s. The component dates are only an indication that the amp is no older than that date (assuming they're original).

What's stamped on the inside of the chassis (in ink)? Is there a date code in there? It might say something like Txxxx68 (x's are digits). The BF models have one.

I believe the change over happened sometime in mid '67. So, yes some '67's will be Silverface.

    I have both a '67 BF and a '67 SF bassman.

The question is, how did you know the silverface was a 67?

My Bassman is a silver face, and IIRC I dated it to 67. It's been awhile since I did that though and I haven't had it out of the stack lately.

    Absolutely...

I have a 67 SF Princeton Reverb with a late 66 output tranny and early 67 PT and reverb tranny's. It has the drip strip. The amp was in minty condition with the original tubes, caps, cover, footswitch... when I purchased it years ago. Untouched under the hood.

I have a friend that has a 67 SF Super Reverb with original factory JBL's. Very rare! Sounds ridiculously good.

...Yes, Silver faces first appeared in the fall of 67(mid?). I've had a handful of them, including a Bassman head with a Black faceplate, no logo, silverface style grille cloth, 1967 trannies!
