My 68 Bandmaster head will suddenly loose volume for a few seconds, then go back to normal volume without any other symptoms.
    Capacitor going bad ?
    Thanks, Sam

Could be. Could be a lot of different things. Have you tried new tubes?

+1 on the tubes;always the first thing to check. It also sounds like a bypass cap either on it's way or with a cold solder joint.

Thanks for the advice--checked the tubes--all seem fine, less than 6 mo. old.TAD 6l6s and JJ pre amps.Drop in volume happened only twice in 5 half hour sessions with the amp --- and seems to occur after amp is fully warmed up.

Sounds like an intermittent connection. Try cleaning all tube pins and sockets. Check the FAQ on my website under Resources.

If that doesn't do it the amp probably needs a checkup by a pro.
