I believe the difference is whether it has a balance or bias circuit.....

That is a balance circuit . . . post CBS improvements
Very easily converted to bias adjust

but if it sounds good . . . .

Thanks guys. My old man has always wanted a super and this one has come up locally for 900. The speakers are newer blue painted alnicos, replaced about ten years ago or so the guy says. Any idea what those might be? They look similar to what is in the current black face reissues.

Looks like a big ass resister on the power tubes. I'd say it one those with cathode and fixed bias. Not well liked. But it looks like someones been in there so who knows.

Do you mean these speakers?:

if so, those are Eminence, made for Fender and used in the 59 Bassman RI - from what I hear they rival CTS Alnicos and would probably be fantastic in a Super Reverb

Thanks everyone for the help, yes it has had a bit of work done on it, apparently there was a reverb issue.

Yeah those are the speakers. I am glad to hear that they seem to be at least respectable. When this guy took it in I guess it had old ****** mismatched speakers that didn't sound so hot and he just told them to put some fender speakers in it.

Dad and I are going in to the city tomorrow and will be picking it up if everything checks out.

Thanks again
