'69 Thinline Reissues: US-made a few years back?

Thought I remember seeing or reading about some US-made '69 Thinline Telecaster Reissues Fender had a while back. Came in several "50's car colors" or something...blue, green, white, etc.

What were they exactly? What were the necks like?

CAR colors were 2002 MIM's...

American Vintage (rosewood and maple boards offered) were '97 through '00 (also came in both Black and Natural). They were close to the '69RI's but double bound, AV p/ups and with modern hardware...

Are those yours?

What was the neck profile like on those MIM thins from 02?

They are all mine.

The Crimson Red/White Guard AV Thinline is no longer with me, but the three others remain

Profile seems to be a "C". Current Fender '69RI Thinlines list the neck as a "U" shape, which I equate with the Nocaster "U" neck. Mine are nowhere near a "U"...

Any idea how they compare to a Squier CV Thinline? It's the best cheap guitar quality-wise I've ever owned, but I don't care for the neck profile at all.

No, it's a "U" profile according to Fender. I have a MIM white one. It is my favorite neck out of 13 electrics I own. I wish all of my Fenders had this neck profile.

OP was asking about the US-made '69 Thinline RIs, not the MIM RIs or double-bound American Vintage series. I am trying to remember whether they did those in 2003 or 2005, but I took several pics from the NAMM show that year, and there were a few dozen hanging in every color.

If I don't have those digitally, I'll try to scan some 35mm stuff.

That may be them!

Damn, where's that from?

I believe from a past NAMM show. Not my pic.

I did get to play one of these Fender CS Thinlines a year or so ago. Found it hanging in a GC and spent about a half hour with is. For the price they were asking ($3800 as I remember) it wasn't worth it. The first CS guitar I didn't want to take home...:dunno

Any interest in selling or trading the light blue or green thinline in your collection?

I love the look, not to mention the tone and player of this one

Aren't those "90s Thinlines"? American Standard pups and hardware?

This is not a US made but an MIM '69 reissue. It was a 60th anniversary limited edition FSR (factory special run) and I believe about 200 of them were made in white with matching headstock and maple fretboard. I swapped out the stock pickups for Lace Sensor Gold/neck and Duncan Little 59 bridge and got rid of the stock 1 meg pots for 250k. Sounds really good now.
