Nice idea! Haven't heard of anyone using them.

For now, the price of the converter and a cheap modern 12AX7 is almost equal to the price of a NOS 6EU7.

I would simply rewire the socket if I were going to give up on acquiring 6EU7's. ....and make any necessary changes if any to the power sup0ply to the anodes and the biasing/bypass on the cathodes.

Yes, but the price of a NOS 6EU7 is a LOT less than an equivalent brand NOS 12AX7.

Agreed but I didn't want to be the one to say it. ;) Plus I think my statement was more compelling since a lot of low cost, modern, 12AX7s are available and using them with the converter is about equal in price to a NOS 6EU7.

I use a 6v6 to 7c5 converter in my 5e3, works quite well.

I'd be interested in the tonal differences with this conversion.

I serviced an amplifier that used 6EU7 tubes. I would say you're better off converting to 12AX7 because the NOS tubes I got were all microphonic. I'm not sure if 6EU7 are microphonic by nature, or that all the good ones are long gone and only the dregs remain.

I just means that the ones you had were microphonic. Nothing more, nothing less.
