What's this I hear about a 6v6 budda amp at Namm?
They have a 2-6v6 and a 4-6v6 amp coming out in the next few months. I emailed Jeff and asked a few questions.
Jeff said it will be the same format as the Superdrives, but the "pull-modern" function will become a "pull-thick" function. The amps rhythm channel will be cleaner and the drive channel has been scaled back for a more "classic" overdriven amp tone.
I'll be in the market for one of these!
Now if only we could get them to offer the 2-6v6 version in a small box head to match up with a 1x12 cabinet.... I'm not a big fan of combo amps.
I'm with you Dave!
I have exchanged a few more messages with Jeff about this amp and I'm definitely planning to get the 20 watt version when they become available. Looks like they will be shipping in approximately 60 days.
Very cool. I'll look foward to checking one of these out.
I really wish the boys at Budda would come out with a 5 to 7 watt amp.
Funny you should say that. I was thinking the same thing. I would love a 5 watt amp with a 10" speaker that features the same rhythm/lead channel switching setup as a Superdrive. I've always been more of a straight into the amp kind of guy and would prefer something like that for low volume settings over a small amp with a distortion pedal.
Jeff mentioned this to me back in '99 when I went to their shop in Baltimore. A grab 'n' go Budda! He also mentioned something about a tube driven reverb unit being on the mental drawing board, too. Neither has become a reality. Bummer. Shortly after that, the Superdrive Series was announced.
The day I was there, they were wiring up some Stringmasters. I feel old.
Can't wait for the initial 6V6 reviews. Eric, Any idea what the name designation is going to be?
Not 100% sure, but I think it's the V-20 for the 2-6v6 version, and the V-40 for the 4-6v6 version.
Guess Budda doesn't know the meaning of 60 days. .....Still waiting......
