My expectations of people are so low anymore, that this just seems like, well, yeah so?
I do! Very sad to see this stuff. How can we expect our children to grow up and not do the same things 20 years later.
I have seen a handful of these crazy moms and dads do some unbelievable things during youth hockey games. In the end it comes back to hurt their own children the most.
I can think of 3 or 4 times a parent ended up banned from the rink. How does that parent tell the kid that they can't come and watch?
Having lived in NYC and Chicago growing up, I lived in Colorado for 25 years and found it very chill. Then I moved to Portland and found chill goes to 11.
Sounds like it's all the 13 year old umpire's fault.
Ah yes, this takes me back to the days when I was 15 years old, refereeing a soccer game between 5 year olds and one of the parents spent the entire game screaming at me to call offsides.
My kids play soccer now. I coach it. I've seen some crazy parents and coaches, but baseball always seems to be 10x worse. I wonder what it is about that game in particular that brings out the crazy?
amazing no one got shot
also, help me understand just how stupid you need to be to pile on and assault a defenseless person when you know you are being recorded by everyone with a cell phone?
that guy in the blue shorts and white shirt is likely going to jail, and even if not, if he worked for me and I saw that on the news, his ass would be sacked.
I think some of you guys don’t realize how important winning is
I grew up in NYC.
I found it chill here years ago.
There has been a shift toward douchebaggery in the last few years.
I wish I could move to Grand Lake and leave the city behind.
No work for me up there though.
Probably by blaming it on the officials who totally had it out for them since it was completely reasonable for them to be screaming or fighting or whatever.
You're very right about that.
Randy Marsh vs Bat Dad part 2!!!
No doubt. Acting like a douchebag then playing the victim when held accountable is all the rage these days.
Kids are sponges and absorb whats around them
Here is a good example
Shift the blame! You are most likely right!
This thread reminds me of a South Park episode where Randy is that guy! Funny stuff!
I am just happy people are free to express themselves and beat eachother up senselessly.
Those who oppose to this form of freedom of expression clearly hate democracy and the freedoms it affords us.
The link doesn’t work for me. But it doesn’t appear to be this.
I recently heard that there is a nation wide ref/umpire shortage. Let’s see how parents react to home plate umps making calls at second base.
Also, there is a parent in every town who has been overheard saying “wait till I get you home” to their unfortunate teen, preteen athlete.
Man this stuff goes viral fast! My 11 yo son has a game in Lakewood today, will be interesting to see what the atmosphere is like. FWIW he's been playing baseball in this area since he was 7 and I've never witnessed any parent behavior like this. 2 or 3 coaches of opposing teams though have been jaw droppingly harsh on kids or just poor sports, but never any parental tensions.
Several years ago I saw some video from a very similar story, with a similar parent melee on the field.
Only it was a T ball game, where they weren't even keeping score, and no one won or lost.
