Could anyone tell me if a 72 Les Paul Custom would come stock with (white) plastic bridge saddles?...Don't recall any Gibson saddles made of plastic...but the guitar is all original as far as I can tell...

Gibson stopped using nylon/plastic saddles in 1966. So they have either been replaced or you have a earlier replaced bridge. Post a pic of the bottom of the bridge, I'll tell you if it's from 72 or not..

gibson has done some goofy stuff that doesn't go with certain years of manufacturing, but post the bridge if you can--visual helps :munch

In one of his books, Tony Bacon claims '61 to '71, so it's entirely possible. I seem to remember seeing them in '72 or '73 on SGs. They used them on the LP Professional/Personal before going to the wide bridge.

Squint and you'll see plastic saddles on this ES-335-12, '67. All original...

Thanks guys ...I know the guitar serial is from 1972 but who knows mfg date for sure...It has never had anything replaced (it is a friends)...so I kinda believe these are original...(nylon/plastic) just like the ones on that beautiful ES335 of DSPELLMAN ..!
(Brass replacements would be cool)...
Thanks!

I put nylon saddles on my LP Jr with adjustable wraparound. I prefer them over steel on such a raw sounding guitar.
