So here's a question, what's a recommended guitar head in the $750 range. I'm seeing a lot of boutique amps in the $1500-2000 range, can anyone cut that in half?

I'm not too picky, mostly looking to discover what's out there beyond musicians friend.

I'm looking for a class A amp somewhere around 15 watts, I lean toward a British/boutique sounds. I'm not scared of obscure or uncommon brands.

    Any diamonds in the rough?

I once played a "Diamond" brand head called the Positron. I think it was like $500 new and it sounded absolutely incredible. Fat, warm, lush cleans even with a strat. It's only one channel w a volume and a tone knob. I was blown away. If you enjoy pedals, this or a carmen ghia gets you in the game pretty quickly.

I got my Valco Made 1963 Gretsch 6162 for around $750. It is a 2x10 combo though. Runs on 6973 power tubes and is rated at about 17 watts. Some of the best tone I have ever heard. It has made my 63 Blonde Bandmaster take a backseat.

If I only had $750 and I needed a device to make my electric guitar louder, I'd probably buy a pair of Pro Jrs. If it absolutely MUST be a head, you might be able to find a Dr. Z Carmen Ghia for that if you're patient, which wouldn't be a bad choice.

Reeves Custom 12. Great sounding amp that won't break the bank. Got my head for here and a 2x10 Avatar Cab with Greenbacks locally for about (traded a Fulldrive 2 and Montavillian for it). They both look great in Red!!

I agree with the Reeves. I have a Custom 6 that I got for under $500 that I really like.

Also, would recommend a Savage Macht 12. Hard to find them for $750, usually around $800-900, but it's possible. I got mine for < $750.

Saw an Avatar 18 head go for under $700 used a few weeks ago.

Carmen Ghia used is a possibility.

Clips I've heard of the Haas Bottle Rocket sounded really good. They can be had new for about $700.

I am sure the Phaez line of amps sound great. I contacted the builder regarding a Jackal 18 head. By the time I paid for the tolex, tubes, and shipping to the U.S, the amp was not much cheaper than several other boutique 18 watt heads I was considering.
