In an 8" combo EL84 amp, what speaker options are there for vox type sounds? or maybe hiwatt? (yes, i know, it's only 8 inches, lol)
I know weber makes the 8" blue pup alnico, but are there others out there with similarly voiced speakers?

    thanks

I've got an alnico Weber blue pup in my Vox Pathfinder and it sounds great. Very voxy.

Weber blue pups seem to be the most popular.
Are there any other companies that make blue alnico clones in an 8" form?
I'm looking for well balanced lows and mids and then the nice chimey highs

You might try and find some of the little Celestions that VOX used in their Pathfinder amps. They sound pretty VOX-y!

I've got one of those Pathfinder 4x8 ministacks with a quad of those speakers in it and it kicks!

The 8in Vox speaker in my practice amp sounds pretty darn good.

wow, I've never noticed the 4x8" pathfinder cabs when they were in production.
How does a 4x8" cab sound like in comparison to a 4x10?..or 4x12?

It's really punchy and fuller sounding than you'd think. I was jamming with friends once using a Washburn semi-hollow with DiMarzio Air Classics in it, and the OD tone with the Pathfinder cranked pretty good was really mix of creamy-crunchy. It surprised the heck out of me!
