    No flame wars please!

I love my 8823. Been hearing/reading rumors that the Lovepedal Kanji E is the same exact circuit as the 8823.

I would like to know if this is true. I never played the Kanji E.

Sean ? anyone pull the circuit board and do a direct comparison? Anyone play through them side by side and find this to be true?

    B

I can't help you with your question, but my 8823 and I didn't bond. How are you using it? I need to try it with my McCarty. If it still doesn't work for me, it is off to eBay.

hmmm, I doubt this is true. It sounds like the 8823 is going for a whole different thing (high headroom overdrive) whereas the Kanji is quite driven even at low settings and has quite a mellow, smooth tone.

This is not true. I have owned both and they are completely different pedals. Listen to the Youtube clips.....

I played them side by side and the new Kanji's (released in the last 2 months) sound identical to the 8823. I'm not going from memory, I actually A/b'd them. I popped open the backs and the writing on the back of the circuit boards was the only thing I saw different. The reissue Kanji's did appear as soon as the 8823's disappeared. Maybe the original Kanji's were different. Sean makes great pedals, and these are good sounding pedal. But I only saw a difference in the packaging.

I agree. I had them both at the same time and found them to be extremely similar. I'm a lovepedal fan and I think Sean makes great stuff. Maybe they are different but they sounded very close to me. I think they're both cool.

Anyone care to shed more light on this?

    Should I get a Kanji if I have a 8823?

I'm just wondering if the 8823 is half-handwired(like the burst HW Eternity)? or the pure green pcb?

I had both of them at one point. They did not sound the same at all.
