Hello

I found a 90's Peavy Classic 50 212 amp for 300 dollars.

Is this amp any good? What sound is it copying?

Is 300 dollars a good price for this?

That's a really good price for a nice amp. Check and see if it has an effects loop. If you plan to use the gain channel and a delay pedal that may be important to you.

C50 is a great amp. More tonal options than it's little brother the C30, IMO.

If you decide to swap out the stock speakers alnico's sound really good in that amp.

I would be on it like White on Rice...! A great amp and that is a steal for $300...
It is perfect for so many different sounds.. It really does it all..

They sound good, they're virtually indestructible, pretty damn versatile. They take pedals well, don't eat tubes, and at $300, it's a no-brainer.

I have the Duel 212 which is 120/100 watts and it also says Classic Tube series. It is a 93 or 94. The quality of this one is superb and I imagine the C50 to be the same.

Completely different animal actually. The Vintage and Classic Tube series were precursors to the current Classic series. A lot of them had solid state preamps and beefy tube output sections. Townshend used a Vintage 410 in the studio to record Face Dances and Rough Mix.

I used to own a classic 50 4X10. Great amp, loud as hell. Drive channel was a little "meh" but I prefer pedals for drive. $300? If I were in the market for a used amp, I'd pay $300 and not even haggle.
