I'm thinking about replacing her over it.
What a cruel, cruel, monster she is.
Ha! No surprise that Rush tops the list. I LOVE Rush, wife HATES Rush.
Hey man, you can't fight the Seether.
Mine is awesome. Kinda. She likes everything. The "kinda" part is that I mean everything. Yeah, she likes my stuff, and we share MANY favorites across lots of genres, listen to lots of stuff together, but then I have to put up with her fascinations with Eminem and TayTay. I know Swifty's catolog much more than I'd like to.
I guess if anything, she's not really feeling my current explorations in country music. I get the occasional "OK, that's not bad", but mostly she just bounces away singing Shake It Off.
I'm the snob for sure.
I really like my wife's taste in music, she comes from a musical family and has always listened to music for hours every day. I can tell her mood from the type of music she is listening to, and when there is too many nihilistic tunes in a row...I know it will be a bad day emotionally
As for my music that she hates.... at first, she could not stand Tom Waits, now....she loves him. I can't get her to really like Elvis Costello....but a song here and there, she likes. But she does laugh at me when I play a 80's rock tune where the guy is singing too high, like TNT. She also hates any "boogie" type things like ZZ Top or Van Halen. She thinks that is the low brow of rock music. I love her anyways.
Jimi Hendrix and led zeppelin
Peter Gabriel, Bruce Hornsby, Dwight Yoakam
My wife likes the Grateful Dead. I can't stand them.
I like Meytal Cohen. My wife for some reason doesn't like me watching her videos. Whoops I mean listening to her music...
The Three Stooges. And the other Stooges.
My ex had a thing for 80's techno (Pet Shop Boys in particular)! Not a fan myself but I tolerated it! She had dealt with a few of my phases (I learned a bunch of solo guitar versions of Irish jigs, some fusion, jazz, etc...)so I guess we were even!
Yes, King Crimson, Genesis.
We like a lot of the same stuff. main difference being that she requires vocals to be very "palatable." I mean I don't like screaming or growling but something like All them Witches....she can't handle it. I don't think she gets shoegaze or slow-core type music either. but we share a love for hard bordering on heavy rock. there is plenty that we can listen to together. She doesn't care about Kings X which just blows my mind.
My wife hates Bob Dylan. Like a lot.
But she is otherwise pretty open. Lately we saw the Pixies, John Prine, Buddy Guy and this year we'll go see Slayer and Megadeth at a festival. If she can run that eclectic gauntlet with me then I guess I can't complain.
She doesn't care for some of the harder edged early 90's gangster rap I like.
She also likes Jack Johnson and I can't stand him.
There are various acts or genres I like that my wife doesn’t, and I understand and it’s no big deal. For example, we both love jazz, but her love comes to an abrupt halt at free jazz and fusion. Fine.
But her intense dislike of Radiohead drives me nuts. And it’s just Thom Yorke’s voice. She admits to liking the music until he opens his mouth. Damn it.
