I've been thinking about how Ho-Fi reciever's work with their Loudness button. Wasn't that design for whisper quiet listening with full sound. Loosing Bass at low volumes was made up with this feature.
Seems like a dedicated amp with a 15" speaker would deliver the goods in the Bedroom and by also, keeping you combo on the floor. Thick full sound with dynamic's.
Say, volume perceived.

Loudness control increases the actual level of the lows, just as turning up the bass control does. It sounds louder because it IS louder.
Floor mounting makes bass coupling to the acoustic environment more efficient INCREASING the level of the bass.
There is no free lunch.

Why would a 15" speaker make any difference? A bigger speaker does not really have anything to do with the volume of the bass. EQ on the other hand...

most people agree 12s work best with guitar frequencies regardless of volume. even with a 12 its easy to end up with too much bass. i dont ever equate bass heavy tones with the kind of tones i need to crank my amp for.

maybe this is specific to a particular amp you like?
