A far more versatile Crunchbox demo

I've just uploaded a new MI Audio Crunchbox demo. I used the Les Paul this time and tried different settings on the guitar and pedal. Once again the amp is a Marshall TSL602 set to clean.

The first "solo" guitar part at the intro was the guitar backed off to clean the tone up a bit. The backing guitars were recorded with the gain on the CB backed off a bit.

On the solo guitars I cranked up the gain on the CB. The "chorused" guitar part is also the Les Paul bridge pick up backed off.

I think that this is a far more versatile demo of the CB than my previous attempts.

The track is called "Les Paul Crunchbox".

Hope you find it useful.

Cheers,

Peter.

Sweet! I just got a crunch box on Thursday and have not been able to plug it in yet as my pedalboard is under construction at the moment. This gives me some inspiration to just plug it in and play. Hopefully I can sound half that good. Nice clip, nice tones and nice playing!

Thanks for the comments. I think you're gonna love this pedal. If you're looking for a cranked Marshall tone this will deliver.

Another great clip, PJH! You helped record Lance's Fandango, right? It sounds awesome as well.

I love your phrasing and style, by the way :)

Thanks, LT,

Yes. I did record Lance's Fandango. Lovely amp BTW. We plugged the Crunchbox into the clean channel of that amp as well and the tone was phenomenal.

Superb CB demo Peter. Well done !

I, too, am now "be-crunchboxed" myself. I couldn't resist your clips in the end ! My solo tones have never been so good.

OT Sorry guys.
PJH, if you don't mind, can you tell me how you recored the guitar, it sounds great, was it just a sm57 off center? or was it more. I don't need specific, just a genaral explanation.

THNX in advance.

Thanks sooo much for the comments guys.

Sixa, the guitar was recorded with an SM57 about 8 - 10 inches away from the grill in the centre of the speaker. I find that by pushing the mic right up on the grill it gets very fussy about the position.

Essentially I'm pretty lazy when it comes to finding the sweet spot. I detest running in and out of the soundbooth to make small adjustments. By moving the mic slightly away from the grill the tone tends to even out a bit.

The mic goes into my Yamaha mixing desk and then into my Soundcard (Delta1010s)

My DAW is Sonar 6.2 and Adobe Audition.

If you're interested my site is www.offtheedge.co.za click on Foxglove Studios on the left hand side.

Cheers,

Peter.
