About a month ago I called Fuchs Technologies. I spoke with a great amp tech who works for Andy Fuchs. He told me that they had an old Music Man 2x12 Combo in the shop and that they would do the ODS mod on it for me at a reasonable price. After hearing so much good about this amp, and after a great conversation with Mike P., I decided to go for this amp.

It's everything that I hoped it would be and more. The Amp is loaded with two 12" Eminence Red White & Blues. As is known, the term mod is not accurate. It is an ODS amp using the iron of the Music Man.

It took me some fiddling with the amp and a telephone call to Mike at Fuchs, to figure out that the two button foot switch that came unmarked, was to operate the OD channel and the reverb. Also, it was only after that phone call that I realized that OD in means the amount of OD and that OD out means the volume of the OD channel.

The clean channel is beautiful sounding, very organic and responsive to touch. With the clean channel volume down and the master volume up it is super clean. With the clean volume up and the master down it is still clean with some more singing qualities.

The OD channel is enough to render my OD pedals obsolete. I can dial in the amount of OD to taste from slight up to very heavy. The articulation of the notes is still amazing even at heavy OD. The sound is very pleasant at every setting. I really like the fact that with the master volume that I can get great sound at usable volumes without sacrificing the tone.
There are so many tones that can be had with this amp. There's a OD boost, a mid boost, a rock/jazz switch, a bright switch, and deep switch, that all contribute to the sonic pallet.

The reverb is excellent as you would expect.

Conclusion: this is a great amp! A+++

here is a sample:

I alternate back and forth between a Strat and LP at my office. Stay tuned and I'll put up a clip with the strat.

I'm a little jealous of TAG. He didn't even have his Fuchs yet and there were 10 pages of posts.:wave

Sounds good. I think it looks cool too. So do these come with SLX specs?

Thank you. It's like a relic'd guitar, in a way. New but with the old and well used look. Cig burns, etc. Besides it's easier to explain a purchase of a old used amp to my better half than it is a new one.

I don't know what the SLX specs are?

BTW. I checked out your band's music. Very good!

I'll have to make another clip. I see everyone is holding that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything

Ummm.... very nice.... Sounds great.

I'm tempted to send in my old Music Man 65 1x12 combo for the same thing.

Call them first to make sure that they will do the mod on your model. If you can have it done,
It will be money well spent!

Thank you.

Fuchs amps are amazing

I agree. I've had a Two-Rock Emerald 50 and I couldn't get a great sound at a lower volume, so I sold it. The Fuchs, on the other hand, sounds great, and has a wonderful OD even at lower levels. With 50 watts, it also is loud. I am really enjoying it!

sounds great! I'd love to get one of these as a 1x12 combo or head.

Nice playing you caught RT the vibe well...

Assuming that's the end of Day of The Eagle....The bass part is not right, he's playing more of a Born Under a Bad Sign groove...

Thanks for the note on the band. We're actually thinking about taking down those links as most dont think they're recorded good enough. I dont think they're bad. I had my Budda at that time.

Fuchs SLX is "Scott Lerner" mod. They change quite a few things on the board and power supply to open up the tone some. I'd really love to do a comparison between a non slx and an slx to hear the difference. I know its a $500 upgrade to take a non slx and make it slx. I'm guessing your mod is done to slx specs. All new ones should be.

Interesing that you dig your Fuchs mod more than the Two Rock Emi pro. I think that may be sacriligeous around here to say.

Thank you for the complement.

I'll have to tell my brother about the bass part.
We jam every day during our lunch hour, at work. No live band gigs planned yet. So far it's just for fun. But the right bass lines would help.

I don't know what the SLX specs are?

Apparently, an SLX requires an Axe-Fx these days.....:hide

Anyway, everything since s/n 0300 on production and in the last 3 or 4 years (in mods) has been SLX. Hi resolution audio cables, certain part values and voltages, tube types throughout, etc.

Mine was the Emerald 50. The Emerald Pro is a different amp. I only have experience with that one TR amp. It's the only one that I've ever played. It was designed to be played in a big venue and loud. My needs are playing at home in my "jam room" with an occasional jam. I love great tone, but that amp just didn't do it for me in my application.

From the clips that I've heard, I don't see (hear) any problem with equating the Fuchs with Two Rocks. Joe and Bill at TR, and Andy Fuchs are at the top of their game making great amps.

Hi Andy,
Thank you for the great amp. It's a wonderful service that you provide by making these mods available, otherwise, I would not have been able to get your ODS. The price point for one of your new ODS is higher than my budget would allow. So now I have a dream amp and I am enjoying it tremendously!
I wish you all the best!
