About a month ago I called Fuchs Technologies. I spoke with a great amp tech who works for Andy Fuchs. He told me that they had an old Music Man 2x12 Combo in the shop and that they would do the ODS mod on it for me at a reasonable price. After hearing so much good about this amp, and after a great conversation with Mike P., I decided to go for this amp.
It's everything that I hoped it would be and more. The Amp is loaded with two 12" Eminence Red White & Blues. As is known, the term mod is not accurate. It is an ODS amp using the iron of the Music Man.
It took me some fiddling with the amp and a telephone call to Mike at Fuchs, to figure out that the two button foot switch that came unmarked, was to operate the OD channel and the reverb. Also, it was only after that phone call that I realized that OD in means the amount of OD and that OD out means the volume of the OD channel.
The clean channel is beautiful sounding, very organic and responsive to touch. With the clean channel volume down and the master volume up it is super clean. With the clean volume up and the master down it is still clean with some more singing qualities.
The OD channel is enough to render my OD pedals obsolete. I can dial in the amount of OD to taste from slight up to very heavy. The articulation of the notes is still amazing even at heavy OD. The sound is very pleasant at every setting. I really like the fact that with the master volume that I can get great sound at usable volumes without sacrificing the tone.
There are so many tones that can be had with this amp. There's a OD boost, a mid boost, a rock/jazz switch, a bright switch, and deep switch, that all contribute to the sonic pallet.
The reverb is excellent as you would expect.
Conclusion: this is a great amp! A+++
