    Hi,

I was listening to "Footprints" on Scottl's discussion page and realized that I had the backing track. Its a great track to experiment with so I thought I would give it a go. I used my suhr Strat with the Fuchs ods 50
    Recording chain was :
    suhr (rear pu humbucker)
    fuchs
    wizzard speaker
    akg c1000s mike
    brick pre amp
sweet water pc running pro tools le
reverb on the amp and delay from line 6 through the effects loop

I think Journo did the backing but I'm not sure.

Please forgive the repedative nature of my playing, I'm still trying to get use to soloing for more than two verses.

    Comments are welcome as usual
    thanks for listening.

How come everybody has a Fuchs except me? :(

Nice playing. I think this track is a little too long to just solo over without some kind of a head you can come back to. I tried to stay closer to Wayne Shorter's theme for the intro and then went into my usual penta-wankage at the rhythm change. IMO, this track works well with a long slow buildup.

Here's my take from earlier this year:

I couldn't agree more with you Normster. I struggled to solo over this one for 6 minutes. Hard to keep fresh ideas flowing that long. At any rate here's my chop at it on my Wechter Jazz Nylon acoustic.

Really like both of yours btw guys! I just couldn't get an the acoustic sound out of my head when I sat down to try a whack at it so I didn't even attempt it on an electric.

Those are GREAT takes guys! Made for some very good listening. I must have missed this BT somewhere along the line so when i first read this I was thinking of the wrong one and i dont have a take for this one. I did a take of Footprints from somewhere else i guess. I think Redant posted it and it may be the first cover i did after Redant pointed me to TGP.

Even though it isnt the same BT ill post mine up here. Its called Grungyprints because Grunge is my callsign in a WW2 flightsim and from that forum is where i met Redant.

Thanks Nomad! I just kind of got in a "mood" when i heard this BT and decided to try something different.

I've been flying a sim called Warbirds for close to 7 years now i guess. Several of us also fly IL2/PF because we love the blue planes and CV ops but we usually do it on a server that one of us hosts from home. Ive made several mission packs for us to fly in as a group that varies from ferrying aircraft out to a CV to all out war :D

im in a squad in Warbirds called The Nightstalkers and we have all been flying together for quite a few years now. We use Teamspeak for comms and actually have planned meetings every 2 years which are an absolute blast. Usually centered around an airshow of some sort and we all just spend a few days hanging out watching planes, playing golf and drinkin a few beers here and there.

If you hadnt heard of it, you can check out Warbirds at www.totalsims.com

Also, here is an IL2 movie i made awhile back........

Here is what a 1958 gibson 175 and a lowly pod pro rack sound like:

Sorry I didn't do a new one! No time but I kind of like this take so here it is again.

Hey Dave35, I have heard of Warbirds in fact I fly with alot of guys who were Warbirds veterans at one time or another. I fly primarily on the War Clouds Western Front server via Hyperlobby or direct to the IP. Not quite full real but fairly close. We use TS as well and I can't think of a better way for a bunch of grown up boys to have fun and not have to leave the house or run afoul of the commander-in-chief. However, we do joke about how many IL2 widows there are out there. If you ever go there just look for PaganNomad, I'm around quite a bit.

Hey L5player, actually I think you had a great tone via the POD although I'm sure the 175 had something to do with it too. Very laid back, nice work!

That's really nice Normster. I'll point to this the next time you try to say my playing is better than yours :) You are wayyyyy out of my league, great take.
