    Hi there!

I am at the Philippines at the moment and saw 2 good looking Ibanez JEM555 Steve Vai for about $280. List price is about $1200. I played them a while and they seemed alright but I am absolutely no expert. Can this be a real JEM555 or will it be an imitation.

    Ba-bay,

    Adrian.

I've seen a couple of scam copies in pawn shops here. I'd be very wary. Pics would help.

Those are most likely crappy Chinese copies.

The highest frets are not scalloped so they must be fake. They are good fakes though with all the inscriptions and all.

    Thanks for the advice.

Yup, china/indonesia made fakes! its called the steve vai jem jr. theres also a ibanez paul gilbert jr. if you look around, you can buy the same guitar cheaper without the ibanez decal. worst of all is a fender tele "made in USA" with a topload 3 piece bridge with a 1 1/2 inch body and 22 frets haha
