So......my new Allen Brown Sugar just stopped working during the gig last night.

Sucks, 'cause I really dig that amp.

Luckily, I had a Power Block in the car, as backup.....jacked it into the cab, and away we went. All the one hand hammer-ons (sorry) are me adjusting the amp on the fly, as I'd never even plugged in the cute little bugger before

Someone called for a rhumba......so we pulled out Magic Sam's "Just a Little Bit".........1st time in years.

Here it is, in all it's psycho-delic glory.......Zoom H2......starts out ok, but about 1/2 way through I hit the fuzz and take out my frustrations from the DOA amp.

    Ugly....and mighty clammy, too!

    Ladies and Gentlemen.....The ToneBenders!

Me- Vocals, Strat, London Fuzz, Carbon Copy Delay, Power Block, Bum notes

    Mike Vogelmann- Bass

Roger Cox - Drums.....and patience of Job for holding it down over this extended wank.

    Audience......sparse, drunk and confused.

    Enjoy????

Playing was nicely in the pocket... Tone sucked, but what the heck. When we getting together? You gotta try the new amps in da house.

well now......not sure I agree about it being in the pocket.....but thanks! This tape of last night really shows how much I need to spruce up my time....yeow!

yeah....tone is a bit weak. Shame the rest of the night recorded so poorly (1st try w/ the H2).....it either overloaded, or was in a lousy position.

Here's the last song w/ the Allen, end of 2nd set.......too much (bad) vocal, etc.......but what the f%ck, right? It's live, and people seemed to dig.

    Drunk people, of course.

Hey...whaddya know....another 3 chorder in E........nice to see how much I've progressed in all these years! lol

Not bad. Needs a headrag, though.

The solo needed to be a couple of minutes longer.

ha......you really DO consider yourself a bass player now, apparently.

    Turncoat!

Thanks for listening guys. It sucks, but I realize I've been commenting on other's clips without posting, so as I get better at this Zoom thing, I'll post others.

Gotta go practice now..............for a few years.

    Scott,

Now that I'm all healed up, let's mos def hook up. Summers a bit slow for me (unfortunately), so I've got lots of week nights......Mondays and Weds, especially.

    Thanks!

    - jim

PS....listening back, I don't hate the tone on the 1st clip....once the fuzz kicks in and **** sounds like it's about to blow up!

That was pretty cool. I thought the tone was fine; as good as many bands I've seen out there have.

    Here ya go....

By way of contrast...........here's a solo on 'Folsom" from the next night.

Different amp (Deluxe Reverb, cranked), different venue, different band, different recording position (and quality).........

    .........same old crappy licks!

You know, Jim...it's funny...after all these years I think these tracks here and the e-bow thread that I've listened to this morning are the first time I've ever heard you play...I dug the **** out of it. I haven't done a straight-up blues or country gig in years but now you're making me want to in a big way...

    Dude...love it...

Don't knock yourself, Jim. Sounds good, man. Kind of a relief from all the shredding and outside the box fusion.

    Thanks much, Scott.

No worries.......I'm probably not 1/2 as humble as I try to come across.

I thought the playing and tone kicked ass in this clip. Is that a tele? Using any pedal or is that just the deluxe cranked? Love it! What are you using to record?

Thanks! I appreciate you checking it out.

Parts Strat w/ Fralin underwound VH's.....baseplate on bridge.

Yeah, I do believe that's just the Deluxe cranked up....5-6.

    Recorded with a Zoom H2.

    Cheers!
