I ran across the Noel Cornet Fuzz watching Burg's demo of the Flight Time Delay. Holy cow what a sound!!

Burgs explains in the comments these are pretty unobtainium. Are there other fuzzes that come to mind that can cop these tones?

Not too much low end. A nice punch to the sound. Mids enough to not get splatty or lost in a mix. This is the Muff sound I'm after but don't want to track one of these down and then pay $350 for one.

    Thanks in advance!!

I wish he didn't have all that delay on the signal... sounds cool, but slicks it up to the point where I think it kinda obscures the underlying fuzz. Harder to pinpoint the true nature of it and give a good recommendation.

That said, "Sovtek-inspired" points to quite a bit of clones out there, the most numerous of which will probably be green Russian muffs. I'd start with the Wren & Cuff offerings; I have the Tall Font and love it, but they also offer several other flavors, all pretty great. My TFR can cover this sort of turf, also probably worth looking at the Box of War.

Thanks PV-- he's got no delay in the above demo at 4:10 and on for a while.

Also- here's the demo with the Cornet + Flight Time

I actually think you can get really close to that sound with the EHX bass muff. Close enough to make the differences irrelevant.

Dude that's awesome! Love this sound.

And I love how saggy and compressed it gets when pushed hard. Almost velcro-like (which I haven't heard many muffs do).

Hadn't heard of the company before this thread, but that gutshot around 20 seconds into the Burgs video is beautiful! That is a pretty killer fuzz tone too!

wasn't expecting this to be a cornet thread; wicked!
i've been on the muff hunt for years now and have narrowed it down to either a cornet or a box of war. for those who've owned both, how does the BoW stack up against the (substantially more expensive) cornet? don't care about the nos mojo vintage parts, just the sound. sounds great in the demo.
how do the later (read: current) cornet's differ to the earlier ones?

The first one sort of does
The second is pretty far off to my ears

I take it your point is that Burgs makes all muffs sound good? Or that it's his rig I'm liking...?

I normally dislike the sound of a Russian Muff, so I wondered why this Noel Cornet sounded so awesome. Yeah, that gutshot. Holy crap, top-quality parts (not even talking about the crazy turret-mounted design); is that a tropical fish I see underneath the first couple layers of parts? May have been "inspired" by a Russian Muff, but it's a good 2 or 3 leagues above in terms of quality.

Thanks - I actually owned this one a while back. I don't remember it having the same sag or "give" to it. A great fuzz though for sure.

Contact ishibashi music in japan and order a Noel Cornet Revu. Basically the same as the Cornet, Sho stopped building the Cornet and now builds the Cornet Revu in it's place. I got mine within 10 days.
It's a Sovtek inspired muff tuned by Sho.
