I played this through my Line 6 Pod HD (the desktop unit) running my usual Blackface Deluxe model. The fuller low end on my new RCF cab has caused me to adjust my patch a bit, adding a studio EQ. I'm really pleased with the change. For the first time I feel like what I'm hearing through my cab and on my recording really sound the same.

The song is an original that has evolved over many years. It was very much inspired by thoughts of Lenny Breau. The name "Bare Handed" came from a comment that John Knowles made to me last summer about playing finger style without a thumb pick (unlike Lenny or Chet). I hope to have the new album completed in the next month or two for which this will be the title song.

The guitar is a custom Loon that we've built for a customer. I've handed the reigns of the company over to Doug Kauer and Kauer Guitars, so this is one of the last few Soloway guitars being built here in Oregon.

Thanks guys. It was an interesting lesson in the importance of having a really accurate FRFR cab. With my previous cabs, I would always have to do some sort of post production to contain the low end. With the RCF, I was able to dial in the sound on the cab and the recording sounds just like what I hear. I didn't have to do any EQ or play any post production games to make to make the low end work. I just hit record and used it exactly as it went down.

Beautiful playing and tone as always!

Which RCF cab are you using? Sorry if I'm missing the obvious somewhere, but I can't find that info. I've been following your FRFR journey, so I'm curious what you've settled on.

    Thanks for the kind words.

And MusicalCircuitry, I ended up with an RCF Art 310-A and I really like it. It took a lot more work out of the box than the K8 or the 8ma to get it right but I think that was actually something of a blessing. Instead of the cab dealing with the low end, I had to do it by fine tuning my patch. The result is the same sound from my cab as my recording. I think there's a serious lesson there: the cab that sounds the best with no effort may not always be the right solution if you're looking for honest representation of your signal.

    Great piece!

"High fidelity" are the words that come to mind. I was really impressed with the low end on that clip.

Thanks guys. I think this is probably the best recorded sound I've ever gotten so I'm pleased to see the reception it's received.
