Been meaning to put this up and we may as well start at the begining...

Ron pinged me last week, and he is in full swing on AM #185: A guitar I have dubbed "The Nirvana Guitar".

No relation to Kurt and Co., but inspired by the Buddhist Monks, Effigies, and Temples I have seen in my many travels across the world. Ron and Pops are really working up some phenomenal inlays for this epic - believe me when I say this will be jaw-dropping, even by Thorn standards - they are pulling out all the stops...

    Let's start from the beginning:

Here is the wood we picked out a few years ago...

    Honduran Quilted Mahogany Back:

The book-matched quilted maple top boards after the initial Naphtha swipe... Picked for their billowing smoke-like look and mysterious pattern:

Fast forward a couple of years and here is the body fresh from routing and and being joined with the back! (this photo courtesy of Ron Thorn - thanks!):

I guess you could say, I'm excited, but that wouldn't even come close. :dude:banana

There are so many more amazing features on this beauty, so I'll update as Ron and Pops progress and you good folks can join in the excitement with me...:BEER

    Best,

    Mike

Gorgeous wood/body. Can't wait to see as more is revealed.

After gigging for the 2nd time with my recently acquired Junior Ninety (Brazilian burst black limba with Thorn trem), I must say that THORN GUITARS ARE INSPIRATIONAL MUSIC MACHINES!!!

You picked the right place to have your "Nirvana guitar" crafted. Stay on the breath and enjoy the journey.

You know, as beautiful as that top is, what really impresses me about those pics is the quilted Honduran mahogany, simply because I've never seen it before. What a stunning guitar!

Either that, or an inside connection with the tree gnomes!!

His koa in particular always blows my mind.

Enjoy that beauty in the best of health!

    Cheers,

    Edward
