Exactly what I thought when I saw what the manufacturers were peddling to the good people.

You can't ' fast grow' tone, like the big manufacturers are trying to do in places like Samoa.

It's all in the wood, the magic is in the wood..

    people...wood is good.

when someone calls you ' he' in here...

' This is Ground Control to Major Tom
    You've really made the grade
And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear
Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dare '

his pickups arent modelled after ‘59 pickups.

its actually scooped mids and its the farthest thing from SRV pickups.

but what do i know, the way you posted this story seems like you know John quite so well.

you obviously don’t realize that swamp ash is a fast-growing tree.

And I would be very careful insulting Samoa. Samoans take that sort of thing personally. Which may help you in finding the tone your fishing for.

As asked (and ignored by you) earlier, what is 'good' wood? Wood is a completely understood, extremely well defined material. It's been used for millennia, accumulating a large body of both practical, experiential knowledge and extensive scientific analysis. Anything you know about wood can be conveyed in accepted terminology understandable by any competent woodworker, botanist or luthier.

So-what is 'good' wood? What qualities make one blank of wood 'better' than the other? As someone who's spent twenty years hand-selecting wood for guitar bodies, fretboards and necks, along with myriad non-luthiery related projects, I'm curious what you consider the qualities of 'good' wood.

    And- ...

proves that genuine vintage 59 pickups do not define the sound that both srv and Jmayer are getting from their guitars...you get it now?

    W h e r e i s t h a t t o n e c o m i n g f r o m?

from the fingers of SRV? - bud, SRV's fingers aren't playing that black strat of j mayers...

So if it isn't the fingers

    and isnt the pickups

    W h a t c o u l d it b e ?

Look, I’ve been sitting here playing guitar, having a few drinks, and I have no problem saying that this Eugene guy is a psycho and this thread should’ve been deleted long by now. How long will this nonsense be allowed to continue??

Hey, it's comedy. "The" Eugene vs. all the straight men a casting director can find at short notice. One order of idiot savantry, hold the savantry, supersize the idiot.

    In other words, fun.

He reminds me of a troll, named David Mabus, at another forum that I helped to moderate a long time ago. Different tactics, but a very similar single-mindedness.

Mabus later ended up afoul of the RCMP for taking his trollery real-life.
