On one of the rig rundowns with the Black Keys they talk about a accordion amp reworked for guitar. Sounded amazing live.

I bought my first decent tube amp from an accordian player, for $200. A 1965 Super Reverb. I don't know how good it was for accordion, but it's great for guitar!

Wasn't the Polytone originally an accordian amp?

Another vote to play it as-is. My Flot-A-Tone Model 600 had been my cousin's accordion amp from the early '60s. It sounds great and still has all its original parts except for one preamp tube.
