At the moment, I run 12" passive monitors, for my live rig. All is fine, but I'd like to add a couple of active monitors to my inventory for backup.

My budget is fairly small, and I see 10" active monitors (like the RCF ART 310a) are smaller and cheaper. I mainly work small venues, so smaller monitors would be good, and saving a few bucks is always good. But, I'm concerned that I will be loosing something by going with 10's

Any comments to help me decide would be most welcome.

I think 10s as monitors would be great. They would punch right through so you can hear clearly. I've heard good things about people going with QSC K10s as monitors, and only heard great things about the RCF art series as well.

10"'s are acceptable for monitors on a small stage, but i'd stick with the more traditional 12"'s for anything bigger than a bar show. just my opinion.
