The question is then, for me, when does a band become a tribute band? Case in point, the Eagles. When the frontman changes and his songs are being sung in his style by someone else, isn’t that a tribute?
    Also, the Dead.

Is Nick Mason's current project considered a Pink Floyd tribute?

Christie Hynde has said she is well aware she has been playing in a Pretenders tribute band ever since half the original lineup passed.

Yes.....and he can get away with paying them as little as possible. Billy is famous for that. Meanwhile, the musicians who came up with him get stiffed.

Although I really like Nick Mason's "Saucerful of Secrets" - playing all early PF material that wasn't often heard later and done in an electric rave-up style we didn't know they had in them still.

I heard that David Gilmour sat in with the Australian Pink Floyd tribute - and on his birthday no less - he hired them for the event.

Foreigner has been touring for the last ten years much of the time without any original members.
Occasionally Mick Jones will play, sometimes not.

When Mick does play, is he playing in a Foreigner tribute band?

    Serious question.

I had no idea Billy was like this until I saw Hired Gun on Netflix. He does not come off well at all.

Yes, he really screwed over some of his musicians, especially Liberty DiVito who got fired for asking for an advance or something like that.

Actually, his band (DeCarlo) isn't a tribute band. They cover a lot of 70s and 80s bands, and are now adding original tunes with an album due out later this year.

Yup, that's it! Although I will clarify that the night I saw them it was a slew of Boston material, but there were other covers in there, as well. Original material, huh? Hmmm, that would be cool to hear. They were smokin'

CJ Ramone also has one, as does Richie Ramone.
