I can get by just fine with one electric guitar.

Not that I'm not also missing all the rest of my guitars and looking forward to playing them again upon my return soon to VA. But with one great PRS, I don't need them.

Liberating, actually.

all of these folks tried to survive with just one guitar, and it didn't work out for them.....
oh, and your TGP account has been cancelled, you're banned!!!!
you must not spread such heresy to the masses.....

Well if you’re only gonna have one, that’s the one to have!

People get down on them for the 5-way being difficult to operate compared to a blade switch for live players jumping between pickup selections, but this guitar was designed for a different purpose.

The 5-way on the original customs was supposed to give the guitar a different character with each setting, so you get a very versatile instrument.

I’m amazed at the effect the sweet switch has on the tone!

I am in the camp of those that don't like the rotary.

I love the tones but, I do a lot of switching on the fly. I plan on putting McCarty switching in my 93 Custom.

I honestly can't get by with one. I'm not saying I need all the ones I have, but just one won't cut it. I love a great S type, but it's not a jazz hollowbody, so they are for playing different things for me. Now could I just get by with 2 guitars...No! :D

Now if we are talking the forbidden TGP subject of truly studying music and really learning musical language (in my case jazz), then it's likely I just need a piano...but certainly one guitar would be enough.

I see what you did there. :) View attachment 867267

The soldering iron is curiously out of the pic.

And good for you @Jon Silberman - one guitar is freedom. I toured and recorded with one Strat for 20 years. Although I had 1 backup Strat. But that was it for electrics.

In this case the guitar has the Relish pickup swap system where the pickups load from the back of the guitar and are held in with strong magnets....truly drop in and play. Coil splits on the two volume knobs as well. I was surprised at just how many wonderful voices there are with this setup. :)

But I could honestly do 4 months with a Tele and a Champ. Just need something to play.

You could definitely do worse than your '86 PRS. :)

Regardless of how many guitars I've owned, I've always been something of a serial monogamist when it came to my instruments. One guitar would be my go-to and the others were just there as backups or a change of pace. I'd divest my secondary guitars without much grief if I had reason to. For now, I'm happy to hold on to 'em because most of them are terrific instruments.
