1. The Gear Page is run by musicians for musicians. We listen, we learn and if we misstep we are not afraid to do the right thing. We proposed some changes to the Emporiums. Based on feedback from members, we have decided to not go ahead with those changes. However, it has also highlighted that we need some community input into what is working and what is not working for members here. Primarily focused on the Emporiums, we'd like input on your thoughts about TGP and how things work in the Emporiums for you and how you'd improve them. The discussion thread on the is here!

Has anyone seen or used one of these mics? As I understand it, they will be available shortly but surely someone has seen one at a show or something.

How is the mic? Is there a drawback to it being a cardioid pattern, in regards to recording vocals and acoustic guitar?

    Thanks a lot!

Don't know it. What's so attractive about it? Price?

I love C 414s. On those you've got 4 selectable patterns (8, omni, cardioid, hyper cardioid).

If the mic is as good as a 414, and just limited to one pattern, it should be good. Vocals and Guitar - and most stuff is recorded with Cardioids so you should be in good shape. You can do close up work, or XY stereo pairs (for spaced pairs, you usually want omnis though). Unless you're recording in a space whose ambience you also want to capture, you could get by without the omnis. Personally, I like having the options though. Of course it's 900 bucks of options. Maybe the 214 is more reasonable :)
