Great sounding album, really enjoying it - anyone else giving it a spin?
I gotta take a listen to the whole thing! Found a little sample online but I'll probably buy the album. I wish he would stop using that stupid chime sound behind this acoustic playing. I really loved Radical Rhapsody, regardless. So much genius on that album.
Just looked up the album in google. This makes me a little uncomfortable, haha.
Al is bringing sexy back.
Great sounding album from Al.
Looks like he's using a Les Paul again. Groovy.
I just listened to it beginning to end on my 5 mile walk.
It is very well done. Very Al. Honestly, no one tune stood out, but rather they all resemble each other.
Nothing comes close to my first DiMeola album. A mentor told me to buy anything by Al DiMeola so I picked up "Kiss My Axe" and listened to it cold.
In the Booklet, it states all the guitars for each track and it appears to be all Les Paul's for the electric work including a Les Paul F Hole Custom (Signature Prototype). His Custom gets the fair share of the workload and his '58 appears on one track. I really like the first track "Adour". Not a huge fan of ADM but enjoying this album a lot.
Funny how it always goes back to basics like that.
Yes, the first track is the best. After a few listens, I like some of the other songs but nothing else seems to stand out with a memorable melody. Will give it a few more listens. And I agree, it's a good sounding album.
TheoDog, Kiss my Axe is also my favorite Al Di Meola CD.
There was a great live Al album that I think is now long out-of-print. "Tour de Force - Live" had Anthony Jackson, Jan Hammer, Steve Gadd, Mingo Lewis... Short LP, but really great performances.
would you mind sharing which track has which LP? Please? Thanks
Kiss My Axe is my favorite too. Elegant Gypsy is another one I listen to a fair amount, but Kiss My Axe is much more non-guitarist friendly so it's the one that gets playing time when the family around.
The first (and only) LP I had of his. great record
Wow ... would luv to hear that. Those are indeed great players ...
You can watch it as well!
Why are his album covers always so terrible?
It's on Spotify, surprisingly!
This thread has me on a DiMeola and 70's fusion kick now. Bought Splendido Hotel and Romantic Warrior on cd today (plus Herbie's Thrust and Head Hunters).
I really dug his PRS Prism.
