Tracks 1 to 6: incredible. This album is a classic.
It was a good album.
Ive been over it since 1990 tho.
Is it, though?
Obviously a well crafted and popular airplay/selling album.
Thad said, I never cared for it at all, even when it was released.
Slippery When Wet is what got Bon Jovi into the RRHOF... No slippery, and they are just another bar band from NJ. Sambora sounds really good on guitar and vocals... the album probably ages a bit better than some of the other big hair metal acts from the 80s
It's quite an accomplishment.
I would say it's the single most effective amalgamation of everything I hate about rock.
Rocked the **** out of that tape when I was 8 years old...
Millions of copies sold...
Would never again intentionally devote one second of my precious time on earth listening to any one song on this record; ergo, SUCKS.
I dont know, it couldn't suck that much if you listened to it a million times when you younger. Seems like you got your moneys worth
Heh heh yup
It's no "Turning Japanese"....
That’ll make you go blind.
I cannot bear even one note of Jon Bon Jovi's "I gotta poo" voice. I grew up in Old Bridge, NJ, right next to JBJ's hometown, Sayreville. I lived right on the border between the two towns, and his high school (Sayreville War Memorial High School) was closer to my house than the one I attended. You had JBJ shoved down your throat if you lived there, along with Springsteen, of course. I hated it then, and still do now. Over the years, I have grown to tolerate Springsteen (although I would never listen to it purposely), but that has not happened with Bon Jovi.
It was a pretty decent album. My brother was into BJ so he bought all his records. Was it his best album? I probably like the first one better. The first few BJ records each had a few pretty good songs but there also plenty of filler tracks IMO.
we don't really care about your personal experience with Bon Jovi. was it a good album or not?
No, it was not. It was maybe the worst thing to come out that year. Indescribably bad and inexplicably popular. And I had no respect for those who liked it. Still don’t.
And who is “we?” Are you the OP? What ten-cent schmuck died and made YOU the boss of TGP?
I haven't listened to this album in it's entirety since 7th grade in suburban Chicago. Cued it up today from Spotify and let it run.
It did take me back to school bus rides to basketball games and other memorable events of middle school. And remembering to skip "Social Disease" (or at least turn down the volume of my tape player for the first 12 seconds!)..
I enjoyed listening again. Some great hooks and guitar tones.
How did I get to be 45 years old.
loved it when I was 12.... but it does nothing for me anymore.
the first Bon Jovi album rules though. “Runaway”, “She don’t know me”, “Burning for love”... those still hold up. all songs written without outside contributions too.
you're doing it wrong.
It’s nonsense pandering to 14 year old girls like most pop music.
