I need to get a 12" Speaker for small jams to go with My english.
so far I'm thinking of waiting for the Celestion Alnico gold (50 watts)
I don't think a single Celestion blue will Handle the power of an English.

Anyone used a Tone Tubby Alnico Hemcone with an english?

what other choice do you guys suggest - it must be 1 12" for portability-
I know 2x12 will sound better but when I play Larger gigs i'll take the 4x12 Greenback MaRSHALL CAB.

has anyone tried a single Greenback 25 watt Celestion with an English?

Should I wait fot the Celestion Gold?

    What do you guys suggest?

You may see this info in other posts:
I got my English with the 2x12 Bulldog cabinet. At the time, I had a Feiten cab with 2 Celestion Vintage 30s and a single EV 12. I still have the Bulldogs, the rest are gone.

You can look at the Weber 25 watt blue copies. I've heard they are very good. Did you ask george?

i LOVE my tone tubby H1E w/ my alessandros. that's whats in my bob burt 2x12, and its heaven. the original H1 was too dark, even for the chimey english, but the H1E's have a nice balance of smoke and clarity.

i like a pair of blues, but honestly, they can be a little too much in the upper mids for me.

George (I think) recommends the Celestion G12H30 for a 1x12. I have used a Weber Alnico Blue Dog (50w) with good success.

That said, I don't need a 2x12 either, but the amp sure sounds better with one (pine box loaded with a Blue Dog/Silver Bell combo in my case).

I've used a 30 watt Weber silver bell moderate doping in an oversized 1x12 cab. Maybe not the safest choice but it sounds fantastic.:dude

What do I go with for my English
    1.) - Wait for Celestion Gold (1x12)
    2.) - Tone tubby HE1 Alnico (1x12)
    3.) - Celestion Blue ( 2x12)
    4.) Celestion Greenback 25 Watt (1x12)

If you are willing to schelp a 2X12, that would be my preference.

When I bought (4 years ago?) my high end Beagle George told me that if I would not hear the high end upgrades with the Greenback. So to me, that is out.

More importantly, the best sounds my Beagle have ever made are through Jokers 2X12. One Blue and one Century (Joker???). There is just something a little more with the 2X12.

So if you are going to spend the cash on the high end Celestion, go with the Blue in a 2X12 and live in all it's glory.

I can't comment on the H1E but I trust Jokers ears.

I've used mostly 1x12 configs: a TT Hempcone Alnico, a Celestion/Boogie 90-watt Black Shadow, a Weber Cali 15 (paper dust cap), and a 50-watt Weber Blue Dog (alnico).

My fav has been the 50-watt Blue Dog.

I also Trust jokers opinion but also Dave's and Gordons - and everyone else that replied here for that matter.
I've been reading post from all you guys 2 years ago while I was still deciding on an amp.

I think I'm going to get a 2x12 cab here and import just the 2 celestion blues.

I'm also at a later stage going to try out a TT and a Weber Blue dog - But I'm convinced about the 2 Celestion Blue's - George Alessandro also recommends them

I have tried many of the speakers that have been listed here. As for a small gig rig that sounds huge, I swear by the FANE Alnico. Its a blue colored one I got from Tony Bruno.
I originally had it in a MESA 1x2 Theil (ulitimate i handed transportable rig) with my English head.
I bought a Bob Burt sealed back slant fron 1x12 and put the FANE in there. It will always stay there.
It even stood up to Blueser's SLO100!!!

    IMO The FANE kicks!!:dude

For a single 12 the fane is a killer, but not so sweet run totally clean.
I prefer Celestion blues in a 2x12 cab wired at 16 0hms. Its the only way to hear what the English is all about.
    Just my 2 cents.
